What is forest school?
"Forest school is a child centered inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands on experience in a natural setting." Forest school association.org
We run Forest school sessions two afternoons a week from the local woodlands, or from the Blaggs farm for fire lighting and tool work. We walk to our site and always have a ratio of 1:5

"There is no such thing as Bad weather, Only inappropriate clothing" Sir Ranulph Fiennes
Forest school sessions will run throughout the Year on a Tuesday and Thursday Afternoon, During the colder months the children will be given the choice to go out/ stop in or we will be in the Eco garden.
One of the most important things to remember about Forest school is that the children MUST be suitably dressed for the weather conditions. Children who are cold or wet very quickly get tired and upset and the their enjoyment of the Forest school experience is greatly reduced! If you already have your own set of waterproofs, that's great, your child can wear those. It is especially important in the colder months to prepare your child properly. Hats, gloves, welly socks are essential to protect your child against the elements. Layered clothing is great to provide good insulation.
We have a selection of waterproofs here and spare wellies here that your children can borrow,
It is equally important that during the Summer months you provide a sun hat and a bottle of sun tan lotion that is clearly labelled with your child's name.
Please make sure that all belongings are clearly labelled and placed in a large bag for life carrier bag so children can independently dress themselves.
We will always aim to be back in the pre school grounds by 3.20pm
